1985 Giro d'Italia: Team leader Francesco Moser (three-time Paris-Roubaix champion) wore this pink jersey and finished sixth overall; sprinter Guido Bontempi won two stages.
Before the 1985 Giro d'Italia, Moser had just broken the UCI one-hour record (51.151km), but due to his age (34) and weakness in mountain stages, he failed to shake Bernard Hinault (the eventual champion).
